Tate, a contentious "self-help" figure on social media who refers to himself as the "lord of toxic masculinity," was detained in Romania on charges of rape, people trafficking, and organising a gang.
Today,
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are back in court to request their release
from Romanian custody.
Many
people will be watching to see what happens next all throughout the world.
The
two women and the duo are accused of rape, human trafficking, and organised
crime, among other offences. They come after the end of December arrest of all
four.
The
DIICOT unit in Romania, which looks into terrorism and organised crime, claims
to have found six victims who were "sexually exploited by gang
members" and were "the targets of acts of physical violence and
mental pressure."
The
Tates were taken into custody in their spacious house in a suburb of Bucharest
and were taken to cells close to the main appeal court, where they will appear
today.
With
the exception of a brief time when it is believed one of the boys was removed
for medical care, they have been there ever since.
Their
attorneys will argue that their detention is illegal and that Romanian
officials should return any property they have taken from them.
Eugen
Vidineac, Tate's attorney, told that the hearing will begin in the
morning and may "take the entire day."
He
is anticipated to inform the court that there is only a single statement of
evidence against his clients and that due process has not been followed.
Through his very provocative posts, ominous tweets, and short videos that portray women as subordinate to men and have been roundly criticised as misogynistic, Andrew Tate has amassed a sizable social media following
