Couple lost for a week and found on London's surveillance cameras with a newborn

The pair has been urged by police to get in touch with them right away, saying: "Please take this action for your kid. If they were sick, you wouldn't be able to forgive yourself."

CCTV footage shows a couple who went missing with their newborn child travelling to London.

Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48, have been missing since their car broke down on the M61 close to Bolton on January 5.

Officers think Ms. Marten gave birth lately and that neither she nor the child had received medical attention.

The couple allegedly made their way to Liverpool before leaving the car on foot.

In the days that followed, there were other reports of them in Essex's Harwich and Colchester, and a previously published CCTV image is thought to depict Ms. Marten wearing a red shawl close to Harwich Port.

The most recent sighting, according to police, occurred on Saturday, January 7, when they took a taxi from Harwich to East Ham station in east London.

A CCTV image from near Harwich Port last Saturday is believed to show Constance Marten

They were seen there between 11.45 and 12.30 on CCTV.

The Metropolitan Police's Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford pleaded with the couple to contact him right away so they can check on the baby's well-being.

For new parents and a newborn infant, travelling for a week must be exhausting, he added.

"Mark and Constance, I'm making a direct appeal to you: please consider your baby's health and wellbeing and contact us so we can make sure your youngster is healthy medically and doesn't have any underlying problems. Please do this action for your kid. If they were sick, you wouldn't be able to forgive yourself. We only wish to assist you and your infant.
